Description
So! this is exciting AND yummy.
When I saw *Lutra-Gem's tutorial here: [link] I knew I would have to try it myself. Originally I was going to make a cake as a surprise for ~ChromaticRose and even sorta sneakily asked her who her favorite character was just for this purpose. I was delighted to find her favorite was Riza Hawkeye and decided that it would be much more fun to decorate together!
I baked up a box of Betty Crocker's Butter Cake Mix and after watching it crack into three pieces coming out of the pan (I have NO luck with cakes... ever... seriously) I simply let it cool then put it back in before frosting. Then I used the tutorial here: [link] to create a chocolate fudge sort of icing. The spare frosting was put in one of our oval corningware dishes and both were stuck in the fridge overnight to solidify. The next day Chro and I spent a while fiddling with the chocolate and made up a "heartless cake" for practice. We had white chocolate, semisweet milk chocolate, and butterscotch chips to work with. Turns out butterscotch doesn't melt too well but it makes for good coloring About 3 hours of color mixing and careful 'painting' later (we used butter knives) we had a finished Riza Cake (with complimentary Black Hayate).
